A LITTLE ABOUT JULES
"As an artist, business owner, teacher and mother (not necessarily in that order), I constantly struggle with the delicate balance between doing the things I love and the things I must.
Life can be chaos. The same can be said for many; I know I’m no different to others in this regard. In fact most of my creative friends, male and female, have all the same struggles. Thus far in my life, however, I have been privileged enough to make a living doing the very things that I’m compelled to do… making art, teaching art and working with creative people.
My challenge for myself is to sort through the chaos and emerge at the other end – happy, fulfilled and accomplished at all the things I do.
No regrets.
My works reflect my head-space, my surroundings, my passions and concerns. I love the elements of design and regularly incorporate patterns and textures into the surface of the works.
In the last few years I began to illustrate children's picture books; this side-step has turned out to be an amazing discovery and I feel that I've found my niche in the creative world.
I believe that being creative, in whichever form you desire, is the key to a balanced & healthy mind. Living on the South Coast of NSW in Australia, I am actively involved in the local arts community and I am very grateful for the fabulous culture that abounds in the slice of paradise that I call home. I also encourage my children to be creative, think creatively and do creative things.
I love to paint first and foremost, but I also love other creative pursuits like playing my ukulele and singing – I’m not that good at either of these musical endeavors, but I do love them!
It’s all about being passionate and being involved in life.
With the love and support of my wonderful family and friends, I continue on my chaotic journey of creativity and discovery, slowly meandering my way towards the ‘true’ art that is uniquely me, if such a thing exists?"
